COVID-19 POLICIES AND PROCEDURES (aka “CoronaRules”)

For everyone:

  • We ask that all our clients and visitors regularly check the “News & Events” page on CSGhorsemanship.com for the latest updates regarding our COVID-19 policies and procedures.
  • DO NOT visit our facility if you:
    • Are feeling ill
    • Have a fever
    • Have a cough
    • Have any symptoms consistent with COVID-19
    • Have had any exposure to anyone who is positive for COVID-19 within the last 14 days
    • Have had a positive COVID-19 test within the past 14 days
  • All clients and visitors must bring their own mask, riding helmet, and riding gloves.
  • All clients and visitors must park in the designated parking area (in the front of the barn only).
  • Before entering the facility, all clients and visitors must wash their hands in the office and use hand sanitizer provided. Only one person is permitted in the office at a time.
  • After handwashing and applying hand sanitizer, all clients/visitors must sign in to the visitors log book.
  • No clients and/or visitors may enter the barn, stables or other buildings at any time. If for any reason someone must enter a building, they must wear a mask. There can be no more than two people in a building at any given time.
  • Before leaving the CSG facility, all clients/visitors must go into the office to wash their hands, apply hand sanitizer and sign out of the visitors log. Only one person is permitted in the office at a time.

Riding students:

  • We are still offering virtual lessons for those with their own horses at their private facilities. Please privately arrange virtual lessons with Chauntel.
  • We are offering off-farm lessons for those with their own horses at their private facilities, where Chauntel travels to you. Please privately arrange these appointments.
  • Horses will be tacked up prior to arrival of students.
  • Reins will be personalized to riding students. Students may take their assigned reins home, and are responsible for cleaning them if they choose to take them home.
  • Riding students and all other clients must provide their own masks, helmets and gloves. We will no longer be loaning helmets or other personal equipment.

Clients with their own horses:

  • Clients with their own horses must bring their own equipment to CSG. If you would like to store anything at our facilities or borrow tack and equipment from us, please arrange with Chauntel privately.

Cleaning and disinfection procedures:

  • Cleaning of tack and equipment with soap and water will be completed after lessons.
  • Cleaning of facilities (specifically: hygiene stations, visitor log pens, doors and gates) with CDC/state-recommended disinfectants will be completed at the end of the day.
  • All cleanings will be recorded in the visitors log.

If we have a visitor that tests positive for COVID-19:

  • We will contact the county and health department immediately, and follow their guidance for closure, disinfection, and notifying anyone that may have had close contact or been on site within the same time period.
  • We will close down immediately, and attempt to notify everyone of our closure through our website, facebook and instagram.

COVID-19 Updates from CSG

Chauntel here, just popping in to check in on my favorite clients, students and 4-Hers!

While I’m very sad that I am not teaching lessons or hosting clients at the barn, I have managed to keep myself very busy (I’ve decided it’s a pathological problem.) Here are a few things I’ve been working on:

I administrate the New York State Horse Council’s COVID-19 Information Center. This has been a whirlwind challenge for my tech skills, especially since we see changing information every day. If you’re looking for ways to stay connected and motivated in the horse community these days, I strongly encourage you to join the NYSHC and participate in their Ride & Drive program – we are working on expanding the program this year, so that you can get credit for ground work done with your horse, books you’ve read, webinars you’ve attended.

In addition to keeping the lesson horses on a strict fitness regimen, I have been taking this opportunity to school them and improve the quality of their training. What does this mean for you? A higher quality experience for you in lessons, and a greater range of things you can learn on our lesson horses.

I am training a few horses currently, both starting under saddle and tune ups. I am expecting another horse to come into the program this month, but do have availability for at least one more. This is an excellent time to send your horse for training, as we do not have any upcoming shows and no lesson program to compete with. It’s a great opportunity to invest in your horse’s training!

I am studying (remotely) the programs of two different trainers and also putting in time to study for my 4th level CHA certification. My original plan was to attempt certifying up in 2021 or even 2022, but depending on the length of this quarantine, I may be ready earlier!

Services CSG is currently offering:

  • Accepting horses for training, both starting colts and tune ups
  • Virtual/remote lessons – e-mail me at CSGhorses@gmail.com or call/text me at 518-578-2392 to schedule!
  • “Absentee” boarding as our barn is closed to the public. Great for horses in retirement, rehabilitation or just in need of space or exercise.

Ways you can be active in our equestrian community:

  • Join 4-H and participate in our weekly Equi-Riders meetings
  • Follow CSG on Facebook and Instagram to see what we’re up to. On Tuesdays, I’m putting out weekly “horse-less riding lessons.”
  • Compete in our Corona Challenge Cup – details coming this week!
  • We have a barn library of books, magazines, dvds and access to online video libraries open to current clients and 4-Hers. If you’re interested, contact me and we can arrange pick up, or I can send them to you.

Updates on summer camps and drill team: Drill team is on pause until further notice. I am waiting until the end of May to schedule camp sessions, if it is possible to hold camp sessions this summer. If I cannot schedule you into a session at that time I will return your deposit. If you would like to withdraw your deposit before then, just let me know.

Hoping that you all are safe and well, and Happy Trails!

We’re here for you!

Hey everyone! Just because you can’t ride or take lessons, does not mean you can’t keep improving your horsemanship EVERY DAY. If you take the opportunity to work on your skills now, you’ll come back more ready than ever to get back in the saddle.

Here’s a few ways we can help with that!

~ Sign up for a virtual lesson

~ Check in on our Facebook/Instagram each afternoon for daily updates, videos and challenges! Tomorrow we’re starting with unmounted exercises to keep you ready for riding

.~ If you’re a youth, register for 4-H and hop in on the Equi-Riders 4-H Club Zoom meetings

Happy trails & be well,

Chauntel
