2025 Equine Fitness Challenge

  • Has your horse been sitting all winter and needs legging up?
  • Hoping to have a competitive edge at summer shows?
  • Feel a little rusty yourself and want to build your own fitness in the saddle?

Join our Spring 2025 Equine Fitness Challenge!

The challenge runs from March 17 to April 28. Each week you’ll have 3 assigned sessions for you and your horse with one additional small strength building exercise to work on. Weekly check-ins will track progress and see how everyone is doing!

What to Expect:

  • 3 Weekly Workouts – Each session should last 30-45 minutes and will build gently and gradually. These can either be done under saddle or modified for unmounted exercise.
  • 1 Weekly Strength Exercise – each week you’ll be assigned a small exercise taking no more than 10 minutes to work on with your horse.
  • Community and Support – weekly check-ins and having a team will keep you motivated and on track!
  • Prizes! Compete for prizes including a spot in an 8-week lesson session ($250)! The more people that sign up, the more prizes that will be offered!

What you will need:

  • A horse! If you don’t have your own and would like to participate, you can partner up with a CSG horse! If you are a student in our program, contact us to see if we have a horse that’s a good fit for you.
  • Equilab – download this free app to keep track of your rides and sessions. If you would like to try the premium version, you can use our code csg35 for 35% off Equilab Premium!
  • A place to work your horse – early spring has some interesting weather and footing, so you can be creative. You’ll see us exercising horses on our driveway when the snow and ice is a problem!

Click here to enter! The cost to participate is $50. Sign ups are open until March 16!

FAQs:

  • Three sessions and an exercise seems like a lot to commit to. What if I can’t complete everything each week?
    • That’s not a problem at all! Every horse & rider are starting at a different place and have different challenges. Just do your best!
  • I don’t ride my horse. Can we do this unmounted?
    • Absolutely! All sessions can be modified for unmounted work. It might mean that you do a little more physical activity yourself!
  • What level rider should I be?
    • You should be comfortable riding for extended periods at the walk and trot. Some participants may choose to work up to the canter if they are comfortable and their horses are ready.
  • My horse doesn’t trot/canter/is gaited. Can we still participate?
    • Yes. Workouts will be modified accordingly and you will still be tracking improvements in your horse’s fitness.
