Chauntel here, just popping in to check in on my favorite clients, students and 4-Hers!
While I’m very sad that I am not teaching lessons or hosting clients at the barn, I have managed to keep myself very busy (I’ve decided it’s a pathological problem.) Here are a few things I’ve been working on:
I administrate the New York State Horse Council’s COVID-19 Information Center. This has been a whirlwind challenge for my tech skills, especially since we see changing information every day. If you’re looking for ways to stay connected and motivated in the horse community these days, I strongly encourage you to join the NYSHC and participate in their Ride & Drive program – we are working on expanding the program this year, so that you can get credit for ground work done with your horse, books you’ve read, webinars you’ve attended.
In addition to keeping the lesson horses on a strict fitness regimen, I have been taking this opportunity to school them and improve the quality of their training. What does this mean for you? A higher quality experience for you in lessons, and a greater range of things you can learn on our lesson horses.
I am training a few horses currently, both starting under saddle and tune ups. I am expecting another horse to come into the program this month, but do have availability for at least one more. This is an excellent time to send your horse for training, as we do not have any upcoming shows and no lesson program to compete with. It’s a great opportunity to invest in your horse’s training!
I am studying (remotely) the programs of two different trainers and also putting in time to study for my 4th level CHA certification. My original plan was to attempt certifying up in 2021 or even 2022, but depending on the length of this quarantine, I may be ready earlier!
Services CSG is currently offering:
- Accepting horses for training, both starting colts and tune ups
- Virtual/remote lessons – e-mail me at CSGhorses@gmail.com or call/text me at 518-578-2392 to schedule!
- “Absentee” boarding as our barn is closed to the public. Great for horses in retirement, rehabilitation or just in need of space or exercise.
Ways you can be active in our equestrian community:
- Join 4-H and participate in our weekly Equi-Riders meetings
- Follow CSG on Facebook and Instagram to see what we’re up to. On Tuesdays, I’m putting out weekly “horse-less riding lessons.”
- Compete in our Corona Challenge Cup – details coming this week!
- We have a barn library of books, magazines, dvds and access to online video libraries open to current clients and 4-Hers. If you’re interested, contact me and we can arrange pick up, or I can send them to you.
Updates on summer camps and drill team: Drill team is on pause until further notice. I am waiting until the end of May to schedule camp sessions, if it is possible to hold camp sessions this summer. If I cannot schedule you into a session at that time I will return your deposit. If you would like to withdraw your deposit before then, just let me know.
Hoping that you all are safe and well, and Happy Trails!
