Happy Trails 4-H Program Spring Session
Applications are due April 3rd!
We are very excited to be hosting the Happy Trails program this spring with Essex County NY 4-H!
Do you have youth ages 10-16 who are interested in horses? If so, keep reading to learn more!
Youth are partnered with horses to practice powerful leadership, gain valuable life skills, learn to work as a team and, of course, experience the magic and joy horses bring to a youngster’s life. This program is designed to offer a unique opportunity for youth who have an interest and love for horses but have no experience or no opportunity. The program will be providing this unique opportunity for a small group of 4 youth for an intense six-week session to learn about horses and themselves for two hours a day after school, once a week. Due to a generous donation all youth will be provided with boots and helmets for this program as well!
The spring session will be held after school Thursdays: 5:00pm-7:30pm.

Week of March 27th – April 1st
Spring 2023
Riding Lessons
The days are finally getting longer and a little warmer, so we are starting to schedule lessons again! You can find availability and book here. We have lessons scheduled as usual until April – please be patient as we have to work around weather during these early spring months!
Starting May 1st, we will no longer offer 4-Class packages. Instead we will be offering 8-week class sessions for $250, May-June and Sept-Oct.
Students will ride with the same group at the same day and time during the eight week session. We’ve decided to transition to this model so that our students will see more consistent progress in their riding and horsemanship.
Spring 8 week sessions:
- Youth A: Tuesdays May 2-June 20 at 3:30 pm
- Youth B: Wednesdays May 3-June 21 at 3:30 pm
- Youth C: Wednesdays May 3-June 21 at 5:30 pm
- Adult A: Thursdays May 11-July 6
- Adult B: Fridays May 12-July 7
Please note registration for 8 week sessions closes April 21.
Non-session, “à la carte” classes will be offered on Saturdays and July-August, as we have lots of exciting shows, events, and adventures to work around. As always we offer private and semi-private lessons.
Summer Camps
Our camp programs are quite intensive so we recommend them for ages 10+ but will make exceptions for dedicated young riders. Registration for day camps will close May 1st. We have three day camp sessions scheduled:
- Session 1: June 26th-30th
- Session 2: July 10th-14th
- Session 3: August 7th-11th
All sessions are Monday-Friday, 8:30 am-2:30 pm.
Friday Night Practices
Also new this year we will be hosting Friday night practices at 4:30 pm. This is a time set aside for clients with horses in our training program or students that are preparing for upcoming shows. Rather than a formal lesson, Friday nights will be a time to freely practice and socialize with the barn community while having Chauntel available to coach, assist or answer questions.
Training & Boarding
We are currently not accepting any horses for board, rehab or retirement. As we move into our spring season we may begin accepting horses for training on a VERY limited basis. To qualify as being in training horses must be scheduled for weekly training rides or lessons, at a minimum.
Current prices
Our current price list, reflecting change May 1st, can be viewed here.
Reber Valley Riders 4-H Club
Our 4-H club is very active, has a ton of hands-on fun with horses, and is always accepting new members! To participate you must be enrolled in 4-H – please contact Essex County 4-H/CCE to get started!
