The CSG team was part of a cool project recently – the trailer for Owen Pataki‘s new book, Searchers In Winter. Trusty Bunk, Emmitt (Boons Rose Royal), Sarah and myself provided some of the equestrian feel to this production in addition to South Farm’s Gunner and TeeR. We had a blast meeting and working with Owen’s team and the actors they got some stunning footage of us galloping off into the sunset! Hopefully you’ll be inspired to pick up the book and escape into these scenes yourself

Heart’s Delight Spring Premier Open Show 2021
We had a blast at the Heart’s Delight Spring Premier Open Show and can’t wait to come back next year. This was both Signe & Wednesday’s first show and not only were they quiet, solid citizens, they both brought home blues! Thank you to the Miner team bringing this show back full force and running smoothly post-Covid, Audrey for the ride and Else & Brady for being a top class support team
Wednesday (CSG Mercredi Z) brought home blue in her first ever WDAA test, 1st in Green Horse Equitation and 2nd in Green Horse Pleasure. She even earned her first Reserve Grand Championship in western dressage!
CSG is a 2021 Time To Ride program facility!
We are excited to announce that we have been selected as a program facility for the 2021 Time to Ride program through the American Horse Council. The Time to Ride program is an 8 week horsemanship course for youth that includes both riding and horse care. Stay tuned for dates and sign ups!
CSG Reading List: Horsemanship Through Life & Core Conditioning for Horses
Just finished reading “Core Conditioning for Horses” all the way through. I watched Simon Cocozza’s sessions at Equine Affaire, Inc. a few years ago and was really hooked. I’m now incorporating the knowledge and exercises I’ve learned from this book regularly into my lesson program and my own riding. The result is seeing a HUGE difference in my horses – they’re happier and bend-ier than ever! The next step is seeing how the “yoga-inspired” aspect will work in increasing the body awareness of my students. You can find out more at https://www.viscontecocozza.com/
I listened to Horsemanship Through Life: A Trainer’s Guide to Better Living and Better Riding by Mark Rashid on Audible for about the last month. I’ve read Considering the Horse previously, so thought I could get away with listening instead of reading – I was wrong. There were moments I had to keep stopping and rewinding to catch some pearl of wisdom. I’m not going to go into a full book review here, but I will say that this is a great read to help you understand the correlation between self-improvement and better horsemanship. I personally appreciated Rashid’s discussion of the respect Aikido practitioners have for their dojo. I think that the stable should be treated with the same reverence. You can find more here – and, FYI, it is a free listen on Audible!
